Dass es einen Markt für Alkohol in der Industrie gibt, hat der Weinhändler Johann Wilhelm Kraul schon vor 160 Jahren erkannt. 1856 gründete er gemeinsam mit Friedrich Ludwig Wilkening die Firma Kraul und Wilkening KG. Schon damals belieferten die beiden Firmengründer Industrieunternehmen mit hochprozentigem Alkohol.</p>

Abnehmer sind, neben der Spirituosen- und der Kosmetikbranche die chemische und pharmazeutische Industrie sowie Farben-, Folien- und Kunststoffhersteller. In insgesamt fünf Destillationsanlagen produziert KWST hochreinen Alkohol aus Getreide, Zuckerrüben und Zuckerrohr. Innovation wird bei KWST seit jeher großgeschrieben. In einem aktuellen Pilotprojekt vergärt KWST beispielsweise Lebensmittelabfälle zu Bioethanol, der dann als Kraftstoff Autos antreibt.</p>

In mehreren kleineren Projekten hat das Familienunternehmen zunächst seine Businessprozesse optimiert. So wurden Erweiterungen im Bestellwesen und in der Angebotsverwaltung realisiert und im Vertrieb eine Marktsegment- und Ergebnisrechnung eingeführt. Das Finanzwesen wird künftig von einer verbesserten Planung mit SAP Business Planning and Consolidation profitieren. Nun soll mit der Migration auf SAP S/4HANA der nächste große Schritt in Richtung digitale Transformation erfolgen.</p>

Bereits nach drei Monaten Projektlaufzeit soll SAP S/4HANA im Januar 2018 bei KWST live gehen. Die Chancen stehen gut, dass der ehrgeizige Zeitplan am Ende aufgeht.</p>

Lediglich die Abwicklung der Branntweinsteuer musste individuell programmiert werden. Diese Eigenentwicklung soll in SAP S/4HANA übernommen werden. Ansonsten will KWST auch nach der Migration weitgehend im Standard bleiben. Nach dem Go-Live wird KWST das neue System im Rechnungswesen, im Vertrieb und in der Materialwirtschaft nutzen. Später soll auch die Produktionsplanung über SAP S/4HANA erfolgen. 22 SAP-User, das ist ein knappes Drittel der KWST-Belegschaft, werden künftig mit dem neuen System arbeiten, das als Cloud-Lösung bereitgestellt wird.</p>
