Im Fokus der Erhebung mit dem Titel „SAP and the Internet of Things“ stand die Frage, wie SAP-Technologien die Einführung von IoT begünstigen können.</p>

Im Einzelnen sind das: der Handel, das Gesundheitswesen, Instandhaltung, die Automobilindustrie, der Energiesektor und die Sportbranche.</p>

Für den Handel werden smarte Regale und smarte Umkleidekabinen als Beispiele genannt. Insgesamt kann IoT hier in hohem Maße dazu beitragen, das Angebot noch besser auf Kundenwünsche zuzuschneiden, indem beispielsweise das Einkaufsverhalten und die Laufwege von Kunden detailliert ausgewertet werden. Das Gesundheitswesen könnte von einer besseren Patientenüberwachung und einer effizienteren Medikation profitieren.</p>

Für die Automobilindustrie wird beispielhaft der Use Case „Connected Car“ genannt. Der Energiesektor kann mithilfe von IoT das Angebot und die Nachfrage nach Energie besser regeln. Und in der Sportbranche tragen Sensoren dazu bei, die Leistung von Athleten zu messen und zu optimieren.</p>

Immerhin nutzen 40 Prozent der Firmen nach eigenen Angaben bereits heute IoT-Technologien. Und von den restlichen Unternehmen denken 60 Prozent ernsthaft über eine Einführung nach. Es scheint also nur eine Frage der Zeit, bis IoT-Lösungen flächendeckend eingesetzt werden.</p>
