Mit dem Release 1709 wurden SAP TM-Funktionalitäten unter dem Begriff „SAP S/4HANA Supply Chain for Transportation Management (SAP S/4HANA TM) in SAP S/4HANA integriert und mit dem Release 1809 noch einmal optimiert. Mit dem „Embedded Transportation Management“ in SAP S/4HANA steht nun eine vollumfängliche Transportmanagementfunktion zur Verfügung, die bisher nur über aufwändige externe Systeme abgewickelt werden konnte.</p>

In Zukunft nutzt die SAP das Extended Warehouse Management in zwei Varianten: decentral und embedded. SAP Decentral EWM wird auf einem separaten System betrieben, die Embedded-Variante ist in SAP S/4HANA integriert. Hat man unter SAP ERP aus Performancegründen noch auf das dezentrale EWM zurückgegriffen, relativiert sich dies mit dem Einsatz der leistungsfähigen HANA-Datenbank. Dennoch kann es gute Gründe für ein dezentrales EWM geben, wie z.B. mehrere ERP-Systeme an ein EWM anbinden zu können (daher die empfohlene Option für Lagerdienstleister) oder aus Sicherheitsgründen ERP und Lagerverwaltung trennen zu wollen. Fällt die Entscheidung auf ein dezentrales EWM, hat man zwei Optionen: das SAP EWM 9.5 und das inzwischen mächtigere „Dezentrale EWM unter SAP S/4HANA“.</p>

Durch die Integration der Freigabesteuerung in die Notifications ist die Verwaltung und das Handling der Freigaben deutlich verbessert, komfortabler und einfacher geworden. Davor erfolgte die Freigabe entweder über aufwändige Workflowkonfigurationen oder über die Freigabe in „alten“ GUI-Transaktionen, die aktiv überwacht und aufgerufen werden mussten. Mithilfe des workflowunterstützten Freigabeverfahrens über die SAP Notifications gibt es keine Medienbrüche mehr, sondern die entsprechende Aufgabe kann direkt über SAP Notifications im Fiori-Launchpad aufgerufen werden.</p>
